One of my current freelance projects is designing / redesigning a website for Finley’s Barber Shop. Located in Lakeway, Finley’s carters specifically to men with a relaxed atmosphere and an old time barber shop feel with contemporary luxury. Everything from a waiting lounge with a large screen tv and wet bar to an amazing deck overlooking the lake. The main comment from visitors is that they had no idea how nice and rich the interior, and atmosphere were from looking at the current site. So the main goal with this redesign was to convey the true look, feel, and atmosphere of the shop through the website to entice customer visits and appointments.
I enjoy attention to detail so this site design gave me the opportunity to use a larger amount of textures including leather, wood and antique wallpaper. I used this opportunity to include more intricate details like stitching on the leather header.
Below you can see the home page and main banner. The emphasis here is to entice customers to call for an appointment so there is a large button for them to click to see the barbers and there weekly schedules with the phone number directly below it.
The following is the mock up for the services page / secondary page layout. The menu style list give the sense of higher end quality withe the right sidebar explains the affordable pricing.
Currently this project is finishing the design phase. I will be building this site out utilizing WordPress as the CMS (content management system) as well as jQuery for the main banner animation. The site should hopefully launch sometime in the next month or so.
